Check out this interview with Ernie and the Berts from AZ Productions!

So, when Ernie and the Berts opened for the Real McKenzies at the Altar Bar, we were approached by Jamie & Blair of AZ Productions HD to do an interview.  Why wouldn’t we?  I mean we are rock stars, right?  I believe this is our first video interview.  We had a blast!  They also got some live footage, and put together some nice shots for our performance of “Toybox” during the set that night.  Check it out:

So take the link and spread it like Herpes: http://youtu.be/5g1lg0wot_U

We’d really appreciate it (& I’m sure they would too) if you watch it & like it on YouTube (Also add it to your Ernie and the Berts playlist if you’d like.  You have one …right?), share & like it on Facebook, share & +1 it on Google+, Tweet it & Re-Tweet it, pin it, share it on tumblr, blog it… show it to your mom on your cell phone.  You know, do what you do.

Check out AZ Productions HD all over the internet:

Of course, check out the Real McKenzies from that night at the Altar Bar too:

You’ll note that the video has a shout-out to Turner’s for our sweet free Tea-shirts (sported by Bert & Bert)!  We’d like to thank them for the hookup!  Check them out on Facebook & Twitter too!  Maybe someday we’ll get the Tea-Bird (or maybe the truck) to come to a show!

If you ever get photos or video at a show, please send it our way!  We’re narcissists & we feed on it.  Mmm…  Media.

☘·☠·⚔·✪ Real McKenzies, Goddamn Gallows, The Bloody Seamen, Ernie and the Berts – Tue. Jun. 5th @ Altar Bar! ☘·☠·⚔·✪

Read a Bert’s plea for your attendance to what will surely be an awesome evening…

That’s right, Ernie and the Berts are opening for Real McKenzies, Goddamn Gallows, & The Bloody Seamen on June 5th at the Altar Bar!

Hello faithful readers.  I’d like to sell mad tickets for this.  The Real McKenzies are right up my alley, these Goddamn Gallows cats look to be our kind of insane, & the Bloody Seamen remind of us our new bff‘s The Botched for some reason.

This is my personal plea to all of you to come out to this show & show us (Ernie and the Berts – the band, and the people) your support.  We’re selling the tickets for $12 a pop in advance, and we hope to sell out quick… so get a hold of me, or get a hold of Erin [a.k.a. Ernie] at ernie@ernieandtheberts.com to score your tix.

I know it’s a Tuesday, and I know it’s not a $5 bar show… but shows like this really help us get our music/name/faces out there.  Don’t you want more people to be aware of the nearly-controlled chaos that is Ernie and the Berts?

Win Ernie’s Pants!

Ernie has informed the Berts (and by extension all of you bad muppet fuzzers) that he will be raffling off his pants at the Real McKenzies show.  That’s the pants directly off of his ass from the show that night.  Maybe you’re hoping he brings extra pants.  Maybe you’re hoping he doesn’t.

Ernie's Pants

These may not be the actual pants that are being raffled off, but these are Ernie's pants.

Ernie has commanded that we the Berts autograph the pants along with him, and I bet we’ll personalize them too.

All you have to do to enter is to buy a physical ticket off of us.  It will be your raffle ticket.  That’s $12 for a show on Tuesday June 5th with the chance to win Ernie’s pants!

Check out the show details here!

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

THE REAL McKENZIES hail from Vancouver, Canada, and don kilts and bagpipes to celebrate their Scottish heritage. Born in 1992, THE REAL McKENZIES were the brainchild of singer Paul McKenzie, who claims, while at a party, heard Robert Burns playing in one room and the Sex Pistols in another. This epiphany led to the celtic cocktail they serve up by mixing rock, punk, and folk with a splash of whiskey and the odd Scottish traditional as a garnish. They have just released their eighth album, Shine Not Burn, on the Fat Wreck Chords label.

Through constant touring around the globe, THE REAL McKENZIES have carved out a role as modern minstrels through a relentless commitment to playing live music over the past 18 years. Fueled by an insatiable longing to entertain, the band is truly at home in front of an audience regardless of the size or venue. Whether playing monumental rock clubs, festivals, or tiny squats, electric or acoustic instruments, THE REAL McKENZIES immediately captivate any crowd through their jovial and heartfelt style. Guitars and bagpipes play off each other as Paul McKenzie weaves historic tales into a modern, Scotch-drenched mythology. Shine Not Burn (the motto of the McKenzie Clan) is the first release that captures and delivers the essence of a REAL McKENZIES live performance. Recorded in August 2009 at Wild at Heart in Kreuzberg, Berlin, Shine Not Burn utilizes acoustic instrumentation to add an intimate aspect that has not been heard on any previous REAL McKENZIES releases. Exploiting the incredible talents of former members of the legendary bands The Descendents, Good Riddance, and DOA, while adding a mandolin and fiddle to the mix, the music on Shine Not Burn is the perfect complement to Paul’s trademark banter and passionate singing. For the listener it brings to life the experience of a REAL McKENZIES show without actually being there.

The Real McKenzies previously released Off The Leash and 10,000 Shots, (Fat Wreck), Oot & Aboot and Loch´d & Loaded (Honest Dons), Pissed To The Gills and Clash Of The Tartans (Sudden Death), Real McKenzies (IFA)

The Blasters! - Thu., March 17th 2011 @ The Altar Bar

We have tickets available for $15 each & no TicketBastard processing fees.  Leave a message here, hit us up on Facebook as a band or individually and we’ll hook you up, or email ernie@ernieandtheberts.com.  All the details for the show and links to check out the other bands are in our last post… as well as the flier here.

There’s a new Facebook event page too!

The Blasters, St. Patrick’s Day, Ernie and the Berts, and maybe… just maybe, Tom Weber.

Who is Tom Weber?  I have no idea.  But, I do know that he’s too cool to listen to local bands and give new music a chance.  He’s good at pointing out the obvious but sometimes necessary pay-to-play position of Pittsburgh bands opening for national touring acts, like The Blasters.

What am I talking about?  Well, there are a few Facebook Event Pages for this show, and Tom posted a comment on one of them:

Put me down as a “maybe” — but not till after the pay-to-play opening bands are done.

Tom is too cool for us, but in case you’re not… come see us, Highway 13, and The Nancy McKeen Bluz Machine open for the Blasters.

Tom Weber

Put me down as a "maybe" -- but not till after the pay-to-play opening bands are done.

Here’s the other Facebook event page, by Drusky Entertainment, without Tom’s comment:  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=183878114966598#!/event.php?eid=117670424968351

Tom is obviously a genius, because for Ernie and the Berts, it is indeed a pay-to-play situation.  We need to sell tickets in order to get on the bill.  But, it’s hard… because buttholes like Tom Weber don’t give local music (or probably anything new) a chance.  How are you supposed to gain fans if no one’s heard you?

So, please get a hold of one of the band members, buy a ticket, and come to this show.  Ernie and the Berts may not be good-looking, musically talented, well-rehearsed, or even smell all that good,  but we do guarantee an entertaining show.

All the details that I have are below…

The Blasters

The Blasters exemplify the best traditions of American Music, performing with passion and honesty that for over three decades has won the hearts and souls of fans worldwide. Composed of founding members vocalist-guitarist Phil Alvin, drummer Bill Bateman and bassist John Bazz with Keith Wyatt on guitar, they carry on a hard-won legacy as one of the most recognizable and credible bands in American Music. Their influences range from the likes of George Jones and Carl Perkins to Ike Turner, Howlin’ Wolf, James Brown and Big Joe Turner, all blending into a sound that ignores the lines between Rock & Roll, Country, Blues and Rockabilly. “4-11-44” (Rainman Records) is the Blasters’ fifth and latest studio album, featuring fourteen tracks that extend the band’s legacy of classic recordings. Fronted by Phil Alvin’s powerful vocals, the band follows through with spontaneity, power and grit that make their live performances into experiences not to be missed.

Tom Weber (Keys)

Tom Weber will not be on the bill that evening.

Maybe Tom will come jam out a song with us, and he can show us all what it takes to be truly deserving of an opening slot for a national touring band.

St. Patrick’s Day with Ernie and the Berts?

So, we have a show on March 17th with The Blasters.  We need to sell some tickets.  Currently the price is $16, but we may be able to drop that a little.  You can buy tickets elsewhere, but why do that?  We need to sell tickets in order to play the gig.
