Ernie needs your help – BAND NEEDED FOR FRIDAY THE 13TH!

OK, we tried to set up a show with some crazy/cool/fun/different bands, and those bands all eventually came back & said it was a unfortunately a bad night.

Musicians.  Ha ha.

In the future, we’ll set up some more shows with metal acts, punk acts, rock acts, ska acts, folk acts, blues acts, hardcore acts, & anyone who will play with us.  Sometimes it’s nice to have three totally different bands on the bill, you know?  (And let’s face it, we’re a weird yet awesome “fit” to any show.)

Right now, we need a 3rd band for Friday April 13th at Howler’s Coyote Cafe.  So far it’s us and the newly-formed yet already infamous Steel City Slingers on the bill.

The first 3 or 4 bands we thought of to fill the gap right away are already playing shows soon with the Steel City Slingers.  We don’t want to beat you to death with the same bands… and we don’t want you to not go to those shows too.  Go out & support all the locals!  Let’s mix it up!

Does your band have the chops?  Is your band willing to rock out with us?  Drop Ernie a line at ernie@ernieandtheberts.com or let us know in the comments below.

Not in a band?  Know a band that might rock?  Send this to them!

We’d like to get it nailed down so we can have flyers made & start pimping the bejeezus out of the show as usual.

FIRE!

Also, don’t forget to get your tickets for the Real McKenzies show in June (Get ’em from Ernie or one of the Berts, so you can win Ernie’s pants!) and that we’re playing an ALL AGES gig at the Smiling Moose on April 1st.

We need your help to get Ernie an award.

You’ve read about the Backallie Music Awards, right?

We need you to click “Like” on JT’s nomination on Backallie’s Facebook wall.  We need all of your friends to click “Like” on JT’s nomination on Backallie’s Facebook wall.  We need your mom to click “Like” on JT’s nomination on Backallie’s Facebook wall.  We need that kid from high school that you added but don’t really like but wanted to creep on for a while and just haven’t un-freinded yet to click “Like” on JT’s nomination on Backallie’s Facebook wall.

We need you to RT this if you’re on Twitter:

http://twitter.com/#!/AiXeLsyD13/status/149868622431522816

We need you to +1 or share this on Google+ or Diaspora or MySpace or WordPress or Blogger or whatever other social network you’re on.

Ernie thanks you in advance.  You allegiance will be rewarded with more of the insanity, chaos, & punk rock that we bring to the table.

Anyone who has a facebook can nominate whoever they feel deserves to be nominated.3) Who can be nominated:
Any band, musician, fan, venue, or person that fits the criteria to meet the appropriate category that is from Pittsburgh or the greater Pittsburgh area, and currently resides in Pittsburgh. If for some reason a fan or person nominates someone for the incorrect category, the band or person being nominated must make this known to fans and to me, and the nomination will still count towards that particular person or band.4) How to Nominate:
If you are nominating yourself, first “like” the Backallie facebook page, then post on the backallie page, Hi, I am Tim Schlong, and I nominate myself for best beard.” If you are nominating someone else, tag them in the post and post on the backallie page. “I nominate Dikkplow for best hardcore band.” If you are nominating a band or person for multiple categories, they must each be separate posts to count for individual votes. If a band is nominated for multiple categories in one post, it will be removed and discounted. in order to win “song of the year” or “video of the year” your song/video had to be released within the year 2011. “Best beard” sort of a relative category, and person (fan or musician) that is a part of the Pittsburgh rock scene that has a noteworthy beard should be nominated for best beard. if you would like to nominate yourself, upload a video or picture to the backallie music page and get your friends to “like” your post. “Youtube Idol” is a category that was created for people who do their own songs or covers and post them to youtube, particularly for musicans who are looking to showcase their talent to find a band. This doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t be in a band to win this category, but this category is for any INDIVIDUAL, not a full band. “Best ‘Oh Shit!’ moment” is the type of moment in a song or live performance where the whole audience is so excited with anticipation that they all are thinking in their heads… “OH SHIT!!!!” (in a good way) ex: a really awesome breakdown in a catchy song, or a one-line chant that everyone sings along to; something cool that a band member does, etc. Thanks for your time, and get ready to nominate!!!

Backallie Music – 2nd Annual RMA’s | Nominate Ernie!

So, it’s come to our attention that there are going to be some local music awards by local record label Backallie Music.  Ernie would like to earn your votes for “Best ‘Oh Shit’ Moment”, and any other category that you’d like.  Feel free to jump on this bandwagon, or start your own!

Ernie has had more than a few literal “oh shit” moments, earning punk rock points for multiple shits in the infamous 31st Street Pub bathroom (once without toilet paper), and more recently going to take a shit in the middle of a set at Howler’s.

Listen to Ernie tell the tale of the 31st Street Pub incident in this video:

We’re still waiting on video to surface from the Punk Rock Sock Hop in Pittsburgh where Ernie had to take an emergency poop break.  The DJ was recording video, and DVD’s are to be made…  but get that stuff on YouTube dude!

The cool part about this awards thing is that it aims to bring together bands from all around the Pittsburgh scene, and maybe just make us a little more aware of each other.  We can celebrate each other, and build up the existing friendships & camaraderie while forging new ones.

➠ ONE WEEK FROM TONIGHT ➠ P!$$ ON CANCER! ➠

Howdy, friends!  One week from tonight we’re going to require your attendance at the P!$$ ON CANCER benefit show.  It’s not only an ALL AGES show, it’s packed full of bands from a potpourri of musical genres, and your money is going to help pay some medical bills of a currently anonymous benefactor.  Obviously we’re all about such things.  This is why your attendance is not requested, my friends… it’s required.

Use your mad geek detective skills to help everyone figure out what songs we’ve been recording.

We need a name for the fans.  The Misfits have Fiends, the Grateful Dead have Dead Heads, what should we call you people?  Ernienians?  Bertians?  Pigeons?  Bottle Caps?  Rubber Ducks?  Duckies?  The Unibrows?

⚕☣☤☣⚕ Attention Kids Under 21 and People Who Hate Cancer:

We have a show coming up that you ought to make an extra effort to attend.  We don’t do many all ages gigs, so this may be your only chance for a while.

This formerly had a slightly more impolite name, but it has been toned down a little bit:  P!$$ ON CANCER: A Musical Collaboration to fight for a friend’s life!

A friend of Bert’s has set up the show, and it looks to be (the good kind of) chaos.  Disgust in Disguise are a bunch of cool cats and it looks like there’s a really diverse set of musical genres happening, as well as a silent auction and some food & drink specials.

We’re asking you to come out, support a good cause, listen to some music, eat, drink, & be merry.  Please don’t literally pee on anything or anyone.  (This means you, Brad.)

Here are the details in case you missed ’em!

Sun.08/14 @ The Fallout Shelter – Ernie and the Berts/Hopeless Otis/The Awful Waffles – $5/21+/9:00pm

Beat the heat, not your meat!  Hang out in the cool relaxing not-humid soothing basement of Sheffield Lanes… a little place we like to call the Fallout Shelter.  Well, they called it that, so that’s why we call it that.  We didn’t name it.  Although, it is a pretty good name.  For some reason, they like us there, and keep letting us come back.  Randy just may be a little insane.  That’s OK, I think we are too.  At any rate, they have good drinks, some nice food from Ricky Dee’s upstairs, and a quaint little atmosphere.  Until we start playing that is.  When we start playing, you belong to us.  You can’t escape.  We’ll see you, and call you out if you try to leave.  We might even follow you.  The last thing you want is an Ernie or a Bert on your trail.  We might even have a new song or two.  Ernie’s been prolific and productive lately, and is whipping the Berts into shape.  Hopeless Otis is from New York City and they’ll show us how they do it up there.  The Awful Waffles will sing about Han Solo, and they might even have a keyboard.

Geurilla Showfare…

So,this Tuesday night, … that’s tomorrow, July 19th, 2011…  I think we’re playing at the Fallout Shelter with Vagora, Birds In Paintings Can’t Fly, and maybe even Children of October.  We’re certainly the odd men out… but when aren’t we?

We made nice-nice with Vagora many moons ago when we played what I think was our first “real” gig at the Fallout Shelter.  I’d maybe call Vagora horrorpunk, but they call themselves “melodic pop punk/post rock/alternative/grunge/post-hardcore/shoegaze”. Welcome to the “it’s really hard to classify our band” club.  Ha ha.  They have a cool spooky sound, some Johnny Cash-like black clothes, and they’re all really friggin’ nice dudes.

I (Bert… or the other Bert) pretty much dropped off the planet this past week, so I’m piecing together what I’ve been fed…

Ernie has been in contact with Vagora, and our presence has been requested.

This is what it says on the Fallout Shelter website…

TUESDAY, JULY 19

• $5 – Doors at 8:30 – Show at 9PM
• 21+ – The Fallout Shelter
• VAGORA
• Birds in Paintings Can’t Fly
• Children of October

Not sure if we’re all playing, or if CoO had to bail, or what… but good bet that the show time is 9:00pm, we play early, and the two Rhode Island bands will be in house… and that it’s a 21+ show.

You should come out to this and have a good time, even though it’s a “school night”.  Hey, it’s summer, right?

Also, don’t forget… Friday Night at the BBT with The Awful Waffles & Uke and Tuba!
