If for some reason a fan or person nominates someone for the incorrect category, the band or person being nominated must make this known to fans and to me, and the nomination will still count towards that particular person or band.4) How to Nominate:
If you are nominating yourself, first “like” the Backallie facebook page, then post on the backallie page, Hi, I am Tim Schlong, and I nominate myself for best beard.” If you are nominating someone else, tag them in the post and post on the backallie page. “I nominate Dikkplow for best hardcore band.” If you are nominating a band or person for multiple categories, they must each be separate posts to count for individual votes. If a band is nominated for multiple categories in one post, it will be removed and discounted. Both “tags” AND “likes” will count as votes, so if you are already tagged, share the status with your fans to get as many “likes” as you can. in order to win “song of the year” or “video of the year” your song/video had to be released within the year 2011. “Best beard” sort of a relative category, and person (fan or musician) that is a part of the Pittsburgh rock scene that has a noteworthy beard should be nominated for best beard. if you would like to nominate yourself, upload a video or picture to the backallie music page and get your friends to “like” your post. “Youtube Idol” is a category that was created for people who do their own songs or covers and post them to youtube, particularly for musicans who are looking to showcase their talent to find a band. This doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t be in a band to win this category, but this category is for any INDIVIDUAL, not a full band. “Best ‘Oh Shit!’ moment” is the type of moment in a song or live performance where the whole audience is so excited with anticipation that they all are thinking in their heads… “OH SHIT!!!!” (in a good way) ex: a really awesome breakdown in a catchy song, or a one-line chant that everyone sings along to; something cool that a band member does, etc.Thanks for your time, and get ready to nominate!!!
So, it’s come to our attention that there are going to be some local music awards by local record label Backallie Music. Ernie would like to earn your votes for “Best ‘Oh Shit’ Moment”, and any other category that you’d like. Feel free to jump on this bandwagon, or start your own!
Ernie has had more than a few literal “oh shit” moments, earning punk rock points for multiple shits in the infamous 31st Street Pubbathroom (once without toilet paper), and more recently going to take a shit in the middle of a set at Howler’s.

We’re still waiting on video to surface from the Punk Rock Sock Hop in Pittsburgh where Ernie had to take an emergency poop break. The DJ was recording video, and DVD’s are to be made… but get that stuff on YouTube dude!
The cool part about this awards thing is that it aims to bring together bands from all around the Pittsburgh scene, and maybe just make us a little more aware of each other. We can celebrate each other, and build up the existing friendships & camaraderie while forging new ones.

What can you win?
Your Design on a custom T-shirt. One of the Berts will put your contest entry on to an iron-on transfer on to a T-shirt of your choosing. You can provide the shirt, or we can… if we can find the size/color you specify within reason.
A “regular” Ernie and the Berts T-shirt with your choice of blue or purple (and size, of course).

An Ernie and the Berts key-chain set. Ernie has been a Shrinky Dink madman lately. We have some key-chains of the ducky logo, a crazy unicorn logo(also by Zach), and maybe we can convince Ernie to make your contest entry into a key-chain.

We’ll maybe even be all dumb-rock-star and autograph something for you.
What do you need to do to enter?
Click the logo above(or right-click if you’re savvy), and save the high resolution image to your hard drive.
Color it in your favorite graphics program… MSPaint, paint.NET, GIMP, Photoshop, PhotoDraw or even with an online editor like the ones built into Photobucket or whatever.

Print it & color it… with crayons, markers, colored pencils, pastels, oil paint, watercolor, whatever. Trace it, recreate it with papier-mâché, make it like a stained glass window, get creative!

We’ll have some info on more upcoming shows soon, as we get ready to record some of our tasty sonic chops towards the end of the month.
While we’re talking about recording, you can help us put out an album by pledging to our Kickstarter campaign. What is a kickstarter campaign? Well, it’s kind of like busking or commissioning art in the digital age. Basically, you’re pre-paying for your copy of the eventual Ernie and the Berts album. It’s like an Amazon pre-order for something that doesn’t yet exist. Your pre-orders help us to fund the creation of an album. With different levels of donations, you can get different crazy prizes… ranging from a T-shirt to a custom hand-made lyric book, or from a uni-brow & some guitar picks to dinner with the band. If you’re super crazy, you can sing on the album or get one of Ernie’s Ernie Ball bass guitars… used at live shows & most likely on the recording itself.
To help out and potentially get some sweet loot, you go to the site, pledge an amount, and don’t pay until (or unless) our goal is met.

A long time ago on a PBS station not to far away a television show was brought to life. This show was intended to teach children how to grow and be better humans through life lessons, songs, skits, and tours of popular modern industries and was hosted by a man. That man’s name was Fred Rodgers, and we have nothing to do with that.
If that doesn’t hook you in, I dunno what will.

Check out the project description, and the different rewarded for different levels of pledges to the project. For $25, you get a CD & a T-shirt. For $200 you can sing backups on the album. $250 gets you a hand-written lyric book from Ernie himself! From there, they get absolutely ridiculous. You’ll just have to read & see.
So, are we ugly …or do you just not want the prizes? Well, we know we’re ugly, but we’re also entertaining & still remarkably photogenic. Ernie makes love to a camera like no other. We’ve seen cameras at shows. We’ve seen pictures. We know they exist. The Hang Lows are in. We want in too!
As we all know, Pittsburgh is full of great local music and some awesome venues…but what are your favorites? Winners will be drawn on the Friday before the show, and the first drawing will be on Friday, July 29th @ noon. Some special things to keep in mind for this contest:
You may submit one photo per week, but every submission must be of a different band/show. Each submission will count as entry in the raffle, meaning that the more pics you submit, the more likely it is you’ll win!
All pics must have been taken during 2011 — as cool as it is that you were at Bob Marley’s last show in 1980, pictures of it won’t count for the contest
Positive comments on your pic will be considered additional entries for you in the contest. Negative comments will probably be deleted (let’s be real–there are plenty of outlets for being negative…onlyinpgh strives to be 100% positive

There’s a rumor around that our new shirts are being made soon by Commonwealth Press. Maybe we can convince Ernie to give one to whoever submits a photo of us to this contest. I bet we could convince him quite easily to give you a killer keychain.
